Johnson & Johnson Changemakers Program Learning Journey
The Johnson & Johnson Global Health Equity Employee Engagement team reached out to us in September for a CSR Opportunity as part of their J&J Changemaker Program in Singapore. The Migrant & Me team was involved in one part of the 4-day program with 80 employees from 20 regions (across Latin America, Europe & APAC) to share more about the migrant worker community in Singapore through our flagship learning journey. Our Prejudice Trail learning journey introduced them to the challenges faced by migrant workers, inspiring them to drive positive change globally.
SHARING BY SPECIAL PASS WORKERS FROM SG ACCIDENT HELP CENTRE
The customised 4-station learning journey included a segment where Jakirul, Molla, and Shohal—Special Pass Workers migrant workers from Bangladesh—shared their experiences. This provided a unique opportunity for J&J participants to learn about the reasons for migration and the dreams and aspirations of these migrant workers after they return home.
“From where I come from there is a minimum wage policy, yet in Singapore there isn’t. I was surprised to find out that migrant workers in Singapore has an average salary of less than SGD1,000, which is so little”
