ABOUT US

Migrant & Me seeks to empower the next generation to build an inclusive society for the migrant worker community, one youth at a time.

Through experiential programmes and volunteer opportunities, we seek to shape the mindsets and attitudes toward the migrant worker community among youths.

We hope that this would encourage Singapore’s youths to treat everyone, especially migrant workers, with dignity and respect.

WHY WE EXIST?

Singapore is not an inclusive society today.

International Labour Organisation findings show that public support for
migrant workers in Singapore has declined.

“Migrant workers cause the crime rate to go up.”

“Migrants workers have a poor work ethic and cannot be trusted.”

“The influx of migrant workers threatens our culture and heritage.”

“Migrants commit a high number of crimes.”

“If they are exploited they have themslves to blame.”

Common mindsets among Singaporean youths that we learn through our programmes:

“Migrant workers are dirty, smelly and uncultured.”

“My parents told me to be careful of them.”

“Why do I need to know about migrant workers? They are trash.”

“My parents tell me to study hard so I won’t become like them.”

“They are less than us.”
